iRobot launches Roomba Max 875 Combo
iRobot says its new Roomba Max 875 Combo has SealForce tech for suction like a stick vacuum and a heated mop. It costs $1,199.

IRobot has unveiled the Roomba Max 875 Combo, a robot vacuum it calls its most powerful ever. The company claims its new SealForce technology allows the device to compete with the suction power of a dedicated stick vacuum.
According to Adam Pope, iRobot's vice president and chief engineer, the key is not only more suction but better application. "With SealForce, we’re able to seal the chassis against the carpet fibers, so the airflow..." Pope stated. The robot lowers a skirt to create a seal, then applies 35,000 pascals of suction, which iRobot describes as tornado-like airflow.
The company asserts this design yields three times deeper carpet cleaning and its best pickup performance to date. CNET's reporter, covering the launch at IFA Berlin 2026, notes that if the technology works as promised, it could help robot vacuums close the performance gap with traditionally more powerful cordless models.
Mopping and Stain Removal
For hard floors, the Max 875 Combo employs a heated mist system. It continuously sprays warmed water ahead of its mop roller to loosen dried stains. IRobot says the mop roller itself is the industry's largest, operating at 300 rotations per minute with 18 newtons of downward pressure. The company claims this combination provides twice the stain removal, 3.75 times deeper scrubbing, and 1.2 times wider coverage per pass compared to previous models.
High-End Features and Docking
The robot includes AI carpet detection, which automatically lifts the mop and lowers a protective shield when carpet is sensed. It also features antitangle and hair-cutting main brushes, side brushes, lidar navigation, and AI object recognition for over 300 household items.
Its docking station washes the mop with water heated to 176 degrees Fahrenheit and dries it with air heated to 131 degrees Fahrenheit. The station auto-refills cleaning fluid and self-empties debris into a bag designed to last up to 90 days.
Model Comparison and Pricing
Alongside the flagship model, iRobot is launching the mid-range Roomba Plus 678 Combo for $899. This model uses a different mopping technology called SprayForce AI, which employs 40,000 pascals of high-pressure cold water to break up dried messes. IRobot claims this improves mopping efficiency by 40%.
| Feature | Roomba Max 875 Combo | Roomba Plus 678 Combo |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $1,199 | $899 |
| Suction Power | 35,000 pascals | 30,000 pascals |
| Mopping Tech | Heated mist spray | High-pressure cold water spray (SprayForce AI) |
| Mopping Pressure | 18 newtons | 15 newtons |
| Carpet Protection | Automatic lift with shield | Automatic lift only |
| Docking Station | Heated wash & dry, auto-fill, self-empty | Self-clean, self-empty |
Both models include the SealForce suction technology for carpets, antitangle brushes, lidar navigation, AI obstacle avoidance, and a self-emptying docking station. According to the source report from CNET, both the $1,199 Roomba Max 875 Combo and the $899 Roomba Plus 678 Combo are available for purchase now on iRobot's website.
